Green Salad with Sumac, Red Onion and Allspice
The Green Salad with Sumac, Red Onion and Allspice got the tick of approval from all those who partook and considering how easy it was to make, I judge it a success. It was a refreshing change to make a dish that not only had ingredients generally to be found in my pantry but was easy to prepare and not only that, proved very tasty.
First step was to assemble the dressing. Oil, vinegar, caster sugar, sumac and allspice. Easy.
Hardest bit was slicing the onion but a mandoline would have made short work of that. This was the hardest part, tedious and the slices got increasing thicker and more uneven. Then the onion went into the dressing to soak it up for an hour or so.
Then it was simply a matter of rinsing the greens, placing in a bowl and adding the onion/dressing mixture. Yum
